What are SPRs?:
SPR means: Successful Pending Recon
The transaction has not yet been finalised on the Yoyo wiCode Platform, a reversal or successful advice request has not yet been received from the Point of Sale (POS).
Transaction Status:
The transaction was successful at POS but the advice request was never sent.
Reconciliation:
The transaction is included in the VSP Recon file as [SPR]. The Retailer will be required to indicate whether the transaction was successfully completed at the POS. This will come out of the retailer reconciliation process. (See Finalise and Reverse process)
Financial:
SPR transactions are not settled by Yoyo.
What causes an SPR transaction?
An SPR occurs when the wiCode Platform does not receive a finalisation (success or reverse advice) from the POS after a transaction has been approved. The reason for the finalisation not reaching the platform is often related to connection breakdowns (internet connection or POS errors) somewhere in the system.
For example: A customer purchases products at a store with a successful wiCode, and leaves with the goods. After the transaction was approved, the POS attempted to send a finalise advice call, however, can’t connect. When the store owner compares their POS records to the Platform records they notice that the transaction is marked as successful on their POS (it was approved), but it reflects as a SPR on the wiCode daily store recon report (In this situation, a finalisation wasn’t received from the POS). This is called an unadvised transaction, or a SPR.
Another possibility is that a successful response from the platform does not reach the POS. Potentially also from a communication breakdown. In this case the POS should send a reversal advice to the wiCode platform. If this does not happen the Transaction on the wiCode Platform will still be left in a SPR state.
SPRs can then be either:
- Finalised or,
- Reversed
The impact of not managing SPR’s
Delaying the recon and management of SPRs for an extended period can lead to the following impacts:
- POS and wiCode recon will not match
- Settlement of transaction amount will not be performed
- Some banking Value Store Providers (VSP’s) may reserve funds for a limited period of time, releasing them back to the customer after the time expires. If this happens it makes it difficult to recoup funds for transactions that were successful at POS. The period of time is controlled by the VSP not Yoyo.
